Underwear Confusion

I can’t seem to find the right size underwear! I am not a large person at only a medium to short (nowadays) height and medium build (not even close to overweight). About a 32-inch waist. I probably see more guys larger than me than I do smaller, except for maybe teenagers. I’m talking the brief type underwear, bikinis or boxer briefs. I am extremely confused as to what size underwear I wear?
To me I should fit into a medium. The medium size on most underwear packages says 32-34-inch waist. 50 percent of the time these fit and 50 percent of the time I’m singing soprano! I don’t get it! Who makes this confusing crap? Have we completely given up any kind of standardization because of the use of the cheapest manufacturers? I am suffering from underwear terror! I can barely pick up a package without shaking! I’m wasting money over and over trying to find a consistent size. It’s not like you can try these things on before you buy! And I’m talking Jockey, Haines, Fruit-of-the-loom.
Surely I don’t need a large size anything! What size underwear are all these actually large guys wearing? Is everyone wearing regular boxers? X-Large clothing used to be almost hard to find since it was only for really large guys. Now we need XXX-Large. Give me a break! Is any adult actually wearing a small?
In fact, many confused people can barely seem to find the right size anything! Women now have to try on every pair of pants or return half of them. In some stores they need a size 6 and in others they need an 11 (taken from a real life example). That should be a considerable difference! Is bra sizing that inconsitent? How about ladies underwear? I have no idea. But if these same manufacturers are the ones who make men’s underwear, we may have a national problem in the early stages!
This all makes it rather frustrating to buy clothing gifts for people, let alone yourself. Can we please get some consistency back?

Yes, I must agree. I was just thinking about this recently when purchasing some underwear to stuff my Christmas stocking with (Can’t let the kids think Santa forgot their old man). Perhaps the best choice is to buy large and shrink them as needed. Like you, I can only imagine what size actual large people are wearing, given I’m 6 ft tall and only weigh about 165. Maybe we should just all be free swingers, or wear pointless boxers (now there’s some confusion for you - what the heck are boxers supposed to do for you anyway?).

How to find the right size is a mystery to me, but one way to wear a thong without getting a wedgie is to weigh down the thong with a small fishing sinker and nevermind that little thing bobbing around (the sinker). I would think if you use measurements you should probably be able to determine your size. I would like to make an appointment with the guy who wears an XXXL.

Well i think ur right, we may have a national problem, because im a girl and i wear all different size everything…bras definitely!!! i have an idea…..maybe u should make ur own underwear…more American made stuff and better fit!!
