Think Before You Vote for Change for Change Sake

On the news the other night I saw one young lady was interviewed on who she was going to vote for in the upcoming Presidential election. As many of the young seem to be responding, she said “Obama.” When asked why, she replied, “Because he wants to change things.” When asked what it is he plans on changing she responded something like, “Well, he wants to change things so they are better.” Finally the interviewer asked. “Just tell me one thing that Obama wants to change and how he will do it.” The young lady responded, “Well I don’t really know, I’m not really into politics that much.”
This is the current mentality of the people voting now. Not all of them, but a good many of them, especially the young. At some point parents have apparently convinced children that the best way to conduct life is to constantly look for change. When, how and why did this happen? I could say, when did this change in thinking occur? The “change fever” has caught on throughout the nation the last several years. Every time I get a new manager at work, they want to change everything. I am not sure why, everything was working fine they way it was, until some new bozo came along and wanted to change everything just because.
People are shouting in the streets, “We need change, we want change”, yet when asked what it is they want changed, they reply, “We don’t know for sure, but we know we want change!” This is one of the most asinine philosophies I think I have ever encountered, and it is one that has wreaked havoc on everything from work productivity to prices at local stores.
It is probably not wise to approach anything with the idea that you are going to change stuff just for the sake of change. Change, just for change itself has not one time in history corrected a problem, but has many times caused more problems. Clearly, true problems have to be defined and clear steps should be noted to correct the true problems.
I have not seen either one of the Presidential candidates yet give clear steps to addressing specific problems for which they would actually have the power to change. McCann seems to not really know what he will do, other than try to keep the war going until it is finished, and is more content just putting down Obama constantly, as a kind of hobby. Obama just continuously goes around giving what seem like high school sports pep talks (which may be why the young like him), with no clear message at all other than he wants to change….something. Either candidate would have to get through congress before changing anything (sometimes I think American voters forget that). If I was a good speaker even I can could stand up there and say the war has to end because it is putting us in debt, immigration is a problem, Social Security needs changed and health care is broken. We all know these facts. What we need is a person who has a clearly defined method to change things that will correct these problems, not someone who just rallies people into thinking change is good just because it is change.
