Rite Aid Wrong

I’m confused at why anyone would get their prescriptions from the pharmacy Rite Aid? Or why they would even get anything in Rite Aid, unless they absolutely had no other choice. The prices in Rite Aid are rarely ever competitive with other places like Target, Wal-Mart or grocery store pharmacies. I think they are still trying to recover from the huge financial scandal they were guilty of in 1999 where they were convicted of unfriendly consumer practices and submitting false prescription claims to the government. Their stock price never did recover. This does not seem to be a well run company.
The stores are not bad places to shop, being clean and friendly enough, but just call around people! You can get cheaper prices elsewhere! I have not once gotten the cheapest price from a Rite Aid. They do have good locations, and I guess that is how they are making it. But, I just can’t see encouraging a store that is over-priced. If there is a grocery store with a pharmacy next to a Rite Aid, just go there! It is that simple.
Apparently there are still a lot of fools out there. I see that in just three days in March, as a random example, Rite Aid processed nearly 3 million prescriptions! Incredible! So what is driving these people to Rite Aid? It isn’t the prices.

My daughter recently opted to purchase some typical drugstore items, though not prescriptions, at Giant rather than CVS because of the price difference, so this extends beyond Rite Aid. But with regard to prescriptions, I think most people tend to go to whatever store is closest, and in many cases, I think you end up paying the same insurance co-pay regardless of the actual drug cost, so the price difference has little impact on the consumer. However, I’m surprised that insurance companies don’t eliminate some of these higher-priced sources from their list of approved suppliers. But then, that wouldn’t be very convenient for the customer. It’s unfortunate, but it seems that the best place to buy pretty much anything is the Walmart. Too bad there isn’t one closer to me.
