High CEO Salaries

In case you were worried about being under paid in this struggling economy here are some 2006, 2007 or 2008 yearly salaries, and total compensation, of some of our fellow Americans. How much you want to bet that some of these people also probably think they need a raise every year? These figures are rounded and include amounts invested in retirement by the company. The source of the data is the Executive Paywatch Database. In many cases the “reported to the public” salary may be less or greater than this. It appears that many CEOs are not 100% sure how much they actually make, they just know they make a lot!
CEO of A. C. Moore, $2 million
CEO of Advanced Auto Parts, $3.1 million
CEO of Aetna, $32 million
CEO of Aflac, $14 million
CEO of BJs Wholesale Club, $4.5 million
CEO of Cabela’s, $2.9 million
CEO of Cumulus Media, $5 million
CEO of Dick’s Sporting Goods, $5.8 million
CEO of EDS, $17.6 million
CEO of Ethan Allen Interiors, $1.4 million
CEO of Exxon Mobil, $22.4 million
CEO of Ebay, $11 million
CEO of Fifth Third Bank, $10 million
CEO of Family Dollar Stores, $4.4 million
CEO of Goodyear, $23.5 million
CEO of Google, $557,000 (what..that’s it?)
CEO of Gymboree, $5.9 million
CEO of H&R Block, $3 million
CEO of Hershey, $8.8 million
CEO of J C. Penny, $11 million
CEO of Petsmart, $3.8 million
CEO of Target, $18.3 million
CEO of Verizon, $20.4 million
CEO of Wal-Mart, $23.3 million
CEO of Walgreens, $5.1 million
Ok…you get the point! These are some of the businesses we commonly use in our lives. I wonder if the CEOs of these companies complain about gas prices to their friends (and now the high food prices…good lord!). It would be a little ridiculous if they do, since they could pay for gas at $10 a gallon and not really feel it! Anyway, this will give you something to compare to your ridiculously low salary, or pension. And remember….many of these CEOs are no smarter than you are!

And if you think that’s bad, I read that Miley Cyrus will be worth $1 billion by this time next year. She’s 15. The teeney-bopper market must be the most lucrative out there (a hint for all entrepeneurs).
