Think Before You Vote for Change for Change Sake

Written by Confusion support on August 27, 2008 – 6:53 am -

On the news the other night I saw one young lady was interviewed on who she was going to vote for in the upcoming Presidential election.  As many of the young seem to be responding, she said “Obama.”  When asked why, she replied, “Because he wants to change things.”  When asked what it is he plans on changing she responded something like, “Well, he wants to change things so they are better.”  Finally the interviewer asked. “Just tell me one thing that Obama wants to change and how he will do it.”  The young lady responded, “Well I don’t really know, I’m not really into politics that much.”

This is the current mentality of the people voting now.  Not all of them, but a good many of them, especially the young.  At some point parents have apparently convinced children that the best way to conduct life is to constantly look for change.  When, how and why did this happen?  I could say, when did Read more »

The People vs. Judge Judy

Written by Confusion support on August 25, 2008 – 12:26 pm -

Is there something seriously wrong with people?  Are people so thrilled with stupidity they will pay any price to see it?

Most of us have heard of Judge Judy.  I recently read where she makes 45 million a year!  Are you people nuts!?  I’ve watched Judge Judy once or twice and got very little entertainment value out of it.  It was ok, but not some great piece of entertainment!  They’d have to pay me to actually go watch it in person.  Isn’t this is a mockery of the law system?   Should the state governments allow supposed lawyers and judges to be public entertainers for the purpose of making Read more »

Be Aware of Pharmaceutical Drug Companies Promise | Trading Greed for Health

Written by Confusion support on August 18, 2008 – 10:34 am -

The medical breakthroughs over the last 100 years have been astounding needless to say.  We are all grateful for this.  However, at times it is still important that we recognize the interplay between the doctors, drug companies, patients and society.  You have to protect yourself, because no one else is going to in a world where greed rules.

No person should be taking medicines without some knowledge of what they are taking.  With the internet available to anyone, it is a good medium to use for your research. When your doctor recommends a drug to you, you have to understand that he has gained knowledge about this drug from pharmaceutical companies that make the drug, and their sales reps.  Very few Read more »

Presidential Candidates Overseas - Why?

Written by Confusion support on July 28, 2008 – 6:41 am -

I am confused as to the purpose of the two presidential candidates, Obama and McCain wasting money, time, and probably many other things, in visiting foreign dignitaries in their home countries.  Obama especially seems to be the culprit, or it could be that the media is covering him more.  I literally quit watching political news because it has gone on so long that I’ve lost interest in anyone winning the presidential election.  But on occasion I still catch some news that Obama is in yet another country talking to yet another leader. Why Not a Better Tax System?

Written by Confusion support on July 21, 2008 – 7:11 am -

I am completely confused as to why we need such a complex tax code in the USA.  It amazes me that people in charge who consider themselves great patriarchs of the people even allow such a thing.  The only real explanation is that it is benefiting them and they really don’t want to change something that is benefiting them.  Since the majority of the country’s leaders are in the upper class, monetary wise, it must be that the tax codes are in favor of the wealthy.  This sounds like a “duh” statement, but it is one that is blatantly ignored by most and I am confused as to why.  In reality how much can our leaders be “for the people” if they allow such stupidity?  Why is there such hesitancy in moving toward a simpler tax system?  Is it because the complex tax system creates Read more »

Saga of an American Bankruptcy

Written by Confusion support on July 18, 2008 – 10:55 am -

Many people may wonder how a person can fall into bankruptcy.  Of course, others completely understand the saga.

In part it may be the fault of the bearer that he or she has fallen into bankruptcy. But in many cases, or partially, it becomes the fault of the society that person lives in.

The most well known scenario is of course the person who builds up a certain life style and then loses their job or business.  Many times this is not the fault of the bankrupted person in any way. This would be a case where society was at fault.

There are cases that are more subtle though.  These are the less obvious and slower cases where a person gradually loses the ability to finance life.

Let’s use a person named Joe for this scenario.

Let’s say Joe has a mediocre job that just brings enough money so he Read more »

Two Floods, Two Peoples?

Written by Confusion support on July 1, 2008 – 8:33 am -

In an effort to stir up some controversy and get some interesting replies on this forum it has been brought to my attention that there are occurrences in the country right now that may be seen as very prejudiced against the white man.  We do not endorse any personal opinions but here is what people have been writing to us about. Why Did Dentistry Change?

Written by Confusion support on June 23, 2008 – 12:31 pm -

When did dentistry change?  When I was kid the dentist was known as a neighborhood doctor, in an old house, who poked around, very little, at your teeth with that sharp instrument and then brushed your teeth with mostly bad tasting gritty toothpaste (supposedly it was mint, but it still tasted bad).  You rinsed your mouth with a Dixie-type cup, into a cone shaped suction device.  If you had a cavity, he filled it right then and there many times.  You then went home with Read more »

Seat Belts and Cell Phones

Written by Confusion support on June 6, 2008 – 11:07 am -

A person nearly ran into me today while they were, what appeared to be, texting on their cell phone.  I had to laugh as I looked down and saw the seat belt I was wearing.  The mentality of people totally amazes me.  In my state it is illegal to drive, or ride in a car, without a seat belt but not to text message, or talk, on a cell phone while driving.  Excuse me people…which one of those appears to be the most dangerous to other drivers?  This is an embarrassment to me that state legislatures allow this, and they have for many years.  You either have to set consistent rules or none at all.  I don’t think Read more »

A Hairy Subject

Written by weewilly on May 30, 2008 – 10:24 am -

Hair confuses me, human hair that is.  If you closely examine the animal kingdom, you’ll notice that most animals of a given species, or at least a given breed within the species, have very similar hair density, patterns, and colors.  When was the last time you saw a blonde chimp, or one with an afro, or even a bald one?  Differences are very rare, and that applies to most of the animal world.

Humans, however, are far different.  Not only do we have different hair colors (I’m talking natural here), but different densities, growth patterns, textures, and thicknesses.  Why is it that Read more »

Todd Davis and LifeLock, My Social Security Number

Written by Confusion support on May 26, 2008 – 5:20 pm -

I had contemplated using LifeLock on and off for years.  Now I see the founder Todd Davis admits that it is not 100% fool-proof, and that even he had his identity partially stolen!  For those that don’t already know, LifeLock is a company, that for a subscription, supposedly guarantees that your identity will not be stolen, and supposedly will pay you $1 million if it is (although that turned out to be a hoax of sorts, since it was only guaranteeing that one credit bureau would put an alert on your file).

The CNN article that I read kept emphasizing that it was because he had revealed his Social Security number in every ad that his identity had Read more »

Cell Phone Bill Charges, What The?

Written by Confusion support on May 22, 2008 – 11:25 am -

A confused reader sent this in: My cell phone bill confuses me.  I generally just pay what it says, but every so often when the total looks suspicious, I’m given to attempting to decipher the 15 to 20 pages that lay out all the charges that I and my children (I have a family plan) have accrued.  After about 10 minutes or so of perusing the document, I’m usually back to simply paying what it says.

First, I can’t seem to keep the pages straight.  As soon as I flip one, I’ve completely lost its context, and putting it back in place is akin to doing a jigsaw puzzle or perhaps even a “Rubik’s Cube” if I’ve flipped more than one page.  I can only imagine what Read more »

Locators Inc. in West Chester, Pa., Caution

Written by Confusion support on May 17, 2008 – 2:21 pm -

We recently were involved with a company called Locators Inc., out of West Chester Pa.  Sometimes they are referred to as Locator News Inc.  When looking for an apartment many times you will see rental ads in the paper that refer you to a company number that is not the actual owner of  the apartment.  Sometimes it will say Locators, Inc. in the ad, sometimes not.  What these types of companies do is get the landlord of an apartment to sign up with them (for a fee) and they then provide lists to potential tenants, who have subscribed with Locators, Inc.  The subscription fee for potential tenants is Read more »

Cops the Cause of Traffic Jams

Written by Confusion support on May 15, 2008 – 10:40 am -

What causes people to drive 10-20 MPH over the speed limit, on a highway, yet when a cop is sitting on the side of the road, these same people slow down to 10 MPH UNDER the speed limit, thus causing a traffic jam!  I will never understand what people are thinking.  You can still go the speed limit and even slightly over even if a cop is on the side of the road!  They will not come after you for this.  I don’t advocate speeding but there is little reason to slow down to UNDER the speed limit (even though Read more »

The Internet Superstore?

Written by Confusion support on May 11, 2008 – 1:54 pm -

The internet was invented by the U.S. military around 1958.  Here we are in 2008 and it is enormously large and useful.  At some point isn’t the information on the internet going to be nearly unusable due to shear volume!  Maybe I am missing something.  I just can’t see the rate at which new web sites are created as being “no problem” in the future.

To me it is equivalent to every Wal-Mart soon becoming the size of entire towns.  Imagine how long that would take you to shop!  First you had Read more »

Defining Generosity

Written by Confusion support on May 1, 2008 – 9:31 am -

Suppose a person needs $50 to get out of trouble, and he comes to me for help.  I know that if I give him $50 he will get out off trouble and maybe learn his lesson.  I also know that if I give him $100 instead he will have his $50 but will use the extra money to go out and get in trouble again.  What should we think of giving him the smaller sum or the larger sum?  Which is actually the more perfect example of generosity?

Assuming I do not owe him the money, I may reason that giving him the larger amount is MORE generous and therefore more perfect or completely generous. The other perspective is that giving him the smaller amount is actually helping him more because it satisfies his need and keeps him from getting into more trouble.

Does this give insight into the nature of virtue or into a better meaning of perfect?  To do something virtuously or more perfectly is not just to do it in a higher degree, but in a better way.  Actions must be done to the right degree, not just to a larger quantity, higher technology or higher level.

Hewlett Packard, Canon, Epson Printers

Written by Confusion support on April 29, 2008 – 11:34 am -

How much bullshit will the consumer have to deal with in the future?  What is wrong with Hewlett Packard, Canon and Epson?  Recently while searching for a new computer printer from Hewlett Packard (HP), Canon or Epson I noticed that most of the printers now do not come with a cable to connect the printer to a computer!  How absurd is this?  They are selling you a product that is completely Read more »

High CEO Salaries

Written by Confusion support on April 25, 2008 – 7:38 am -

In case you were worried about being under paid in this struggling economy here are some 2006, 2007 or 2008 yearly salaries, and total compensation, of some of our fellow Americans.  How much you want to bet that some of these people also probably think they need a raise every year?  These figures are rounded and include amounts invested in retirement by the company.  The source of the data is the Executive Paywatch Database.  In many cases the “reported to the public” salary may be less or greater than this.  It appears that many CEOs are not 100% sure how much they Read more »

Nationalities Merging Into One?

Written by Confusion support on April 23, 2008 – 10:03 am -

This is not a racist post, so please do not take it as such.  Will the races or nationalities eventually mix to create just one “world” race?  I always found it enjoyable to see different types of nationalities.  It was interesting growing up in a town where Italians looked like Italians; Germans looked like Germans; Croatians looked like Croatians; Hispanics looked Hispanic, and they all had their unique styles and culture.

Lately I have noticed that there are an increasing number of people, especially children Read more »

‘Thrill Kill’ Murder Trial in Michigan: Michigan vs. Jean Pierre Orlewicz

Written by Freddie on April 17, 2008 – 10:43 am -

I began watching the trial of Orlewicz last week.  I had not heard anything about it prior to that time, but I became interested in it as soon as I began watching it on Court TV.  Criminal Trials are interesting to me because in most cases I don’t understand how any jury or any person for that matter could possibly convict someone and not have a “reasonable doubt”, when there are so many people testifying and saying totally different things.  It’s pretty much a matter of opinion as to who to believe, right? Is the Population Too Stupid to Vote?

Written by Confusion support on April 15, 2008 – 6:32 am -

It is very possible that the election process isn’t as sound as it could be.  Should the general population of the United States be voting for a President, or are they too ignorant?

Given that the majorities of voters are getting their information on Presidential candidates from a media source, or have very little information on each candidate, it is hard to imagine that there is much intelligence going into each vote. Read more »

Comcast

Written by Confusion support on April 10, 2008 – 10:31 am -

Comcast is not the easiest company to deal with.  They also charge you to death with extra fees which really make no logical sense.  It is probably best to avoid them if at all possible.

Why do they charge you monthly “rent” on their remote control for the digital cable box?  You can’t use the box without the remote so you don’t have any say in the matter. Read more »

U-Haul

Written by Confusion support on April 4, 2008 – 6:42 am -

I recently had the privilege of using U-Haul for renting a truck for a house move.  For anyone who has not done this before, you may be in for a shock.  I did not realize that the rental fee for the truck includes nothing!  I assumed that the $29.95 daily fee (17-foot truck), for a local move, at least included some amount of mileage.  It does not.  You pay the fee for every day you have the truck and you get nothing for that.  I was charged, on top of that, 79-cents per mile.  Not only that, but you don’t even get 24-hours of rental per day!  They let you have it something like 19 hours maximum.  The U-Haul I was at insisted I not go over 19 hours a day with it or I would be charged another day. A Morning Religion Thought

Written by Confusion support on March 27, 2008 – 10:45 am -

A thought occurred to me while driving to work this morning.  I think a lot on ideas, practices and happenings in different religions and within Christian denominations.  Of course religions and religious beliefs are one of the main driving forces in much of politics, wars and international trade.  I think a lot about the nature of how people worship and why, because it is so important.  Much of it is confusing, questionable or even ridiculous.  Read more »

Toilet Turmoil

Written by Confusion support on March 24, 2008 – 11:23 am -

There seem to be a lot of toilet problems in the news lately.

We have all, by now, heard of the woman in Kansas who sat on the toilet seat so long that she actually began growing onto the seat and had to be taken to the hospital with the seat still attached to her.  Apparently she sat on the toilet for 2 years, and was fed by her boyfriend who seemed to patiently wait for her to get off, and 2 years later called the Read more »
